A fast return investment

I was recently talking to an agent about how many people he suggests home staging to, decide not to because there are so many other costs at that point (realestate.com listing, floor plan, photography etc.) that staging is just one expense too many. This view is one I have heard before and is a valid concern for many people selling their homes.

Instead of being viewed as a cost, staging should be seen as a fast return investment. There are few times in life when such a potentially large return can be achieved in such a short space of time. People have never been more time poor and have plenty of properties to pick and choose from when selecting which to inspect on their precious Saturday mornings. Presenting your home well will get more people to view it online, more people through the doors on inspection days, better offers and will help keep the bargain hunters away. I have seen staged properties that have sold quickly and over $40,000 over their valuations. A matter of weeks after investing, it really is an excellent opportunity to seriously improve your sales result. Not many investments can match such an impressive return.
